After a series of escapes and uprisings at the Bridge City Center for Youth, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards called in the department of corrections and state police to secure the facility.
It didn't work.
The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice is reporting another escape.
"On Sunday, July 17, 2022, at approximately 2:30 am six juveniles escaped from the Bridge City Center for Youth," Spokeswoman Nicolette Gordon said in a news release.
She says they locked down the center after the escape.
"Following the incident, OJJ immediately ceased all movement at the facility and made official notifications to local law enforcement."
Gordon added that five of the escapees were caught in less than four hours. One escapee remained at large.
"The escapee is: 18 year old male from Orleans Parish."
Neighbors who have been voicing their fears and concerns say no one notified them of the escape.
"Anyone with information is asked to call local law enforcement immediately, or the Command Center at 504-401-3359."
Authorities did not publicly release any information about the escapee at large.
"Due to the confidential nature of juvenile records, OJJ cannot release information pertaining to youth to the media. OJJ has released full information to law enforcement to aid in apprehension."
