Local business leaders look to further redevelopment of the New Orleans riverfront. The reopening of the Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium is the latest example.
"There's great things happening on the Riverfront," said Audubon Nature Institute CEO Ron Forman. Forman says as the port of New Orleans shifts cargo operations and consolidates facilities, it creates new opportunities.
"With that we get a chance to open up our riverfront to our citizens," he said. "We can make it the front porch to the entire city."
GNO Inc. President Michael Hecht says it's very valuable real estate.
"It's where people want to be," said Hecht. "And they'll pay good money for it."
Other recent renovations around the river include the Four Season Hotel, the new ferry terminal, and just off the river, renovations underway at Caesar's Casino.
