The New Orleans City Council voted Tuesday to rescind a measure it passed late in its last term that would prevent new strip clubs from opening on Bourbon Street without special approval.
District C Councilmember Freddie King, who sponsored both measures, says he had a change of heart after speaking with people in the adult entertainment industry.
NOLA.com reports several workers from Bourbon St. strip clubs attended the council meeting to support the measure to repeal the limitations.
City planners will study whether the council should impose new permanent regulations on strip clubs.
