An Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office deputy has been fired and arrested following a use-of-force investigation.
The sheriff's office say Deputy Clarence Clark committed battery on an inmate in an incident on December 19 of last year.
Clark is now charged with felony battery and malfeasance in office.
"Any allegation of violence or misconduct especially by someone entrusted with public responsibility is taken extremely seriously by this office," said Sheriff Susan Hutson. "Our duty is to the people of Orleans Parish, and we will continue to cooperate fully with the justice process to ensure integrity at every level."
