The city of New Orleans today details plans to bring economic development to New Orleans East.
Getting business to come to New Orleans East means first taking care of the basics, said New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno.
"Making sure that we have the drainage, the utility infrastructure," she said. "We went in with Entergy on a $20 million grant application to make sure the utilities are right."
Moreno said it also means looking at improved public safety.
"Where do we need to put additional crime cameras up? What does that look like," she said.
Once that's done, the mayor says GNO Inc. will act as marketers for the region, and actively recruit businesses they think would be interested.
