New Orleans Police say a fight in the jail included an inmate pulling out some sort of shiv.
"Inmates inside of the Orleans Justice Center were involved in a physical altercation," according to an initial police report. "The suspect produced a weapon and stabbed the three victims."
The sheriff's office says it happened around 2:00pm on Tuesday and described it as a physical altercation in which a sharp object was used.
"Two detainees suffered injuries that required transport to a local hospital," according to a news release.
Three other people suffered less severe injuries.
"The two detainees who received hospital treatment have since been released and returned to the Orleans Justice Center."
OPSO says they have determined who was responsible, and will bring charges.
"Special Response Team deputies conducted a comprehensive security sweep of the area."
