New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno said Tuesday that she likes what she is hearing in the Tropical Storm Bertha forecast.
"What the National Weather Service keeps telling us is that they believe that the most significant impacts will be south of us, and so south that it's going to be mostly offshore," said Moreno.
The mayor said she is also relieve to hear that there is a low chance of tornadoes associated with Bertha. Tornadoes spawned by Tropical Storm Arthur last month caused damage in parts of the metro area including New Orleans.
The mayor says the city's public safety agencies are coordinating with the state and will be ready for whatever comes this way.
