After six months in office, New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno is getting ready for what's next.
"Progress is happening," Moreno said.
The mayor said that a lot of the first half-year of her term involved playing catch-up as they dealt with a backlog of infrastructure needs.
"We've been able to repair more than 5,000 street lights," she said. "We have patched more than 15,000 potholes in the past six months."
Moreno said they are aiming to do more
"Fixing potholes isn't enough, which is why we're hiring 50 DPW workers to work on mill and overlay work on our streets to really smooth out our streets, bringing a lot of that work in-house," the mayor said. "This is only the beginning. There is so, so much work to do."
