Cops says bullets were flying on the interstate in New Orleans overnight.
“Initial reports show two adult females sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries,” according to a news release from NOPD.
It says the call came in just before midnight.
“It was determined the incident occurred at I-10 West at South Carrollton Avenue.”
The investigation is ongoing.
Senior Public Information Officer Aaron Looney later said that one of the injured woman was shot, while the other was hurt after the fact.
"Upon further investigation, only one of the previously listed two victims in this incident was found to have sustained gunshot wound injuries. Any other previously reported injuries were found not to have been directly from gunfire," Looney explained in an email.
He says they are looking for the shooter who was in another vehicle.
"The incident reportedly occurred as the victim was traveling on the interstate in a vehicle with other occupants and their vehicle was allegedly fired upon by an unknown subject in an unknown separate vehicle."“Anyone with information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD First District detectives at 504-658-6010.
