New Orleans Police detain naked man after homicide

Murder
NOPD

A morning murder brought NOPD to New Orleans Holy Cross neighborhood, where they found a dead body and a nude man.

Senior Public Information Officer Aaron Looney said in an email, "At about 7:10 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male having sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased on scene."

Reports from the scene describe police detaining a man who was naked, wearing only a white hard hat.

Nola.com says police explained that "the man was walking in the vicinity of the house where the body was found."

It was not immediately clear if police believed the naked man had anything to do with the killing.

NOPD later said what initially appeared to be a bullet wound was not.

A news release stated, "Initial reports regarding this incident were that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound.

However, upon further investigation, it has been determined that the victim in this incident did not sustain a gunshot wound.

The incident remains classified as a homicide."
