New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in the 4400 block of Chef Menteur Highway.
Police say shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a man shot in that location.
"Officers found the adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound," said NOPD Public Information Officer Barry Fletcher. "New Orleans EMS confirmed the victim was deceased."
Police are asking people to avoid the area while their investigation is underway.

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
