A New Orleans teenager is dead after a crash during a police chase that started in Iberville Parish and ended in Pointe Coupée parish.
According to our partners at NOLA.com, police say the 16-year-old was driving an SUV reported stolen from New Orleans.
Pursuing units deployed a spike strip to disable the vehicle's tires, but the Chevy Suburban was able to continue a few hundred yards before crashing into a tree.
Deputies pulled a 13-year-old girl from the passenger seat, but before they could get the 16-year-old driver out, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
The 13-year-old was airlifted to a hospital in Baton Rouge.
