With as much as a half-foot of rain expected to fall in the metro area, the city of New Orleans on Friday declared drivers can park their cars on higher ground.
"Heavy rain could cause street flooding," the city warned residents via its NOLA Ready text alert system.
"Neutral ground parking allowed thru 6 PM, 10/3."
As always, drivers are asked to avoid blocking streetcar tracks or other traffic, and to be wary of debris on the neutral ground.
