A new report reveals an ugly statistic about the Pelican State and its cleanliness.
The study finds that Louisiana ranks second in the nation in terms of states affected by mold, trailing only Hawaii.
The findings come from an analysis of web searches that showed Louisiana residents had 335.22 searches per capita when it comes to looking up how to deal with damp-related problems.
Louisiana also averaged 152,640 such searches per month, the most out of the top five.
Of course the humid Louisiana climate is extremely conducive to the cultivation of mold, which can exacerbate a number of health issues including asthma and other respiratory issues, as well as incite allergic reactions, according to the EPA.
If you find mold in your home, the CDC suggests quickly taking steps towards remediation, including the drying or removal of wet materials within 48 hours.
