New Orleans firefighters are on the scene battling an overnight 2-alarm fire that ignited in Venetian Isles. The fire broke out sometime last night near the area of Chef Menteur and Michoud Blvd.
Fire crews have been working through the night and are still on the scene this morning putting out hot spots.
"When firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:28 a.m. they saw flames coming from an overgrown wooded area that was covering an abandoned apartment complex," says an NOFD report. The area was inaccessible to firefighters so they used a ladder truck to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. An investigation is underway.
