The New Orleans Fire Department battled a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex on the I-10 Service Road.
The fire broke out at the Carmel Spring Apartments in the 12000 block of North I-10 Service Road about 8:32 pm Wednesday night.
When firefighters arrived, they found smoke billowing from the two-story complex.
All of the tenants were able to get out safely as crews began to attack the fire.
The fire was under control at 8:58 pm. There are no reports of any civilian or firefighter injuries. Multiple families were in need of assistance resulting from the fire.
The Red Cross responded to assist the displaced residents. The New Orleans Emergency Medical Services, Entergy Gas & Electric as well as The New Orleans Police Department also assisted in the mitigation of this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
