New Orleans Firefighters took on a stubborn early morning fire at an abandoned home off Gravier and South Tonti Streets.
The first NOFD unit arrived on the scene at 5:48 a.m., finding a two-story abandoned building with flames already through the roof.
A second alarm was struck immediately at 5:49 a.m.
The dilapidated condition of the structure and likelihood of collapse prevented firefighters from making any kind of interior attack on the fire.
Although there were no utilities servicing the structure, Entergy Electric was called to de-energize power lines so that firefighters could safely raise aerial apparatuses as part of the exterior attack.
Fifteen NOFD units, supported by thirty-four NOFD Fire Operations personnel, were used to bring this incident under control at 6:49 a.m.
There were no injuries reported and an investigation is pending once the incident scene is deemed safe.
