One home in the Seventh Ward is destroyed and another is significantly damaged after a two-alarm fire late Saturday night. Firefighters say the house in which the fire started was vacant.
Firefighters got the call around 9 p.m. from North Roman Street between New Orleans and Allen Streets. Firefighters say the blaze spread from a single-story home to a neighboring two-story dwelling. No one was in the one-story house, but firefighters rescued one person living in the two-story structure. That person was not injured.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
