A three-alarm house fire in the Milan neighborhood displaces two families consisting of five adults and one child.

The New Orleans Fire Department says the fire started at 11:05 p.m. Monday night at a home in the 1900 block of Delachaise Street.

When firefighters arrived, the two-story home was completely engulfed in flames and was spreading to neighboring homes.

The blaze eventually caused the house to partially collapse as fire crews quickly called in more fire crews bringing the fire to three alarms.

The NOFD is calling the fire ‘suspicious’ because they say the home where the fire started had no utilities connected. Neighbors say the home was under construction.

No one was harmed in the fire. The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
