NOLA official: 80% of New Orleanians still not vaccinated

New Orleans officials are urging everyone in the city to get vaccinated.

City spokesperson Beau Tidwell says although the city is receiving a steady supply of COVID-19 vaccines, they aren’t seeing enough residents rushing to get their shots.

“The road to recovery leads through vaccination, and we need everyone to be apart of that and we need everyone to message that to their communities,” said Tidwell. “Right now in Orleans Parish, we’ve had 34.2% of our people have received their first dose and 19.9% are fully vaccinated.”

However, Tidwell says those numbers of people vaccinated are not enough.

“That, however, means 80% of people are not vaccinated, and nearly two-thirds of us have not gotten any vaccines,” said Tidwell.
