New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says vaccination rates must be higher in order for her to consider ending some of the phase three restrictions the way the rest of Louisiana has. The city and community leaders are trying to drive up that rate.
There are a lot of reasons people give for not being able to get the shot, says Dr. Jennifer Avegno.
"Many people still have questions, still need more information, still don't have the ability to travel long distances and disrupt their daily life," Dr. Avegno said.
That's why the city and community leaders are pushing outreach, to provide information that answers those questions.
"We can't stop, we won't stop, until everybody feels they have the information they need to make the right choice to protect the ones that they love," said Dr. Avegno.
