New Orleans remains in Phase 3 with 75% limits on most businesses

Occupancy restrictions on most business in most of Louisiana are being lifted today, with one major exception: the city of New Orleans.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell has consistently kept a stricter set of rules in place. Cantrell says her administration will assess the governor's guideline, but the city will continue to issue its own proclamations.

"We will thoroughly assess what the governor announced," said Cantrell. "I'll make decisions accordingly."

The city shifted to a modified Phase Three on March 12, and further eased restrictions March 19, but most businesses remain limited to 75 percent of their fire code-mandated maximum occupancy

One thing Gov. John Bel Edwards' new proclamation does not change: the statewide mask mandate.
