The co-director of the effort to recall Mayor LaToya Cantrell is confident their campaign to raise 150,000 signatures will be successful.
Speaking with WWL’s Newell Normand, Eileen Carter sounded off about the buzz she’s getting from people in the know who say her effort is chugging along: “This is happening, the pollsters have also told us this is happening, and they told them it is happening, so they [Cantrell’s Administration] are concerned, they should be concerned because we are getting these signatures and this is going to happen. The Mayor will be recalled.”
Carter points to the seemingly empty allegations against City Council President Helena Moreno as an example of Cantrell’s campaign of retaliation against anyone not aligned with her.
“Instead of doing something directly to the Council Member, she did something to someone in her close proximity—trying to take away their livelihood. This is how the administration works. This is what she does, it’s a copy-and-paste. We can put this on any situation when we talk to the residents of the city of New Orleans.”
Carter says the Mayor penchant for retaliation is just another reason why so many looking to have her replaced.
