The New Orleans Police Department announced Tuesday that it has arrested 26-year-old Virgil Ordon in connection with a three-year-old girl shot to death in the 3200 block of Rue Parc Fontaine in Algiers on Monday.
"At about 2:47 p.m on the date, NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location," said NOPD. "Upon arrival, officers located a 3-year-old toddler female with a gunshot wound."
The little girl died on the scene.
Police say a subject, later identified as Ordon, was detained at the scene for questioning.
" As the investigation progressed, NOPD Homicide Section detectives determined Ordon to be responsible for the incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest," said police.
Officers booked Ordon on one count of negligent homicide.
