NOPD is investigating a homicide Wednesday evening in the 2200 block of Washington Avenue near the intersection of Loyola that left one person dead.
At about 8:29 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the intersection of Washington and Loyola avenues.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male lying on the sidewalk and having sustained a gunshot wound.
The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
