The New Orleans Police Department today released body camera footage from officers who shot and injured WIlton Anderson, a domestic violence suspect. The incident happened May 31.
"Upon exiting their vehicles, they were fired upon," said New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson. "Our officers discharged their weapons at Mr. Anderson in response to the threat that he posed immediately upon their arrival."
Anderson was wounded in the leg. The victim, Anderson's sister, was hit in the back and abdomen. The chief said she is still hospitalized, but her condition has been upgraded from critical to stable.
"There was no time for our officers to react in any way to defend themselves other than to use their weapons," said Chief Ferguson.
