NOPD investigates two separate shootings on N. Claiborne over back-to-back weekends

Over the span of two weekends, there have been two separate homicides on N. Claiborne Avenue, one block apart from each other according to police.

The New Orleans Police Department reports the first fatal shooting happened Friday, Nov. 19, in the 1400 block of North Claiborne.


Investigators are searching for three suspects caught on security cameras.

An NOPD report describes the subjects as persons of interest and are not wanted on charges.

An NOPD report says:

Subject #1 was seen attired in a black hooded jacket, blue jeans, and a red book sack.

Subject #2 was attired in camo pants, camo hooded jacket, white shoes, and black and white “Heemadisa” mask.

Subject #3 was attired in a blue “Orlando Magic” basketball jersey, blue jeans and black G-Nikes.

Police report that on Nov. 19, three unknown suspects entered a business and opened fire, striking the victim multiple times. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction. The victim was pronounced on scene.

The following weekend, police investigated a fatal shooting that injured one man and killed a woman on Saturday, Nov. 27 in the 1500 block of North Claiborne Avenue.

Police report that the victims were shot while inside a vehicle.

The female victim was pronounced on scene by EMS. The male victim drove himself to the hospital.

An NOPD report says, “At approximately 9:01 pm, a homicide occurred at the listed location. The above-pictured vehicle, a maroon pickup truck (possibly a Ford F-150) with an unknown license plate, is believed to be the perpetrator vehicle.”
