The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a carjacking that happened Tuesday night on Napoleon Avenue in the Broadmoor area.

According to police, it happened at about 6:45 p.m. in the 3600 block of Napoleon Avenue near South Tonti Street.

Investigators say the female victim was approached by a suspect with a weapon and took her keys before driving off in her vehicle.

In mid-November, a similar carjacking took place also on Napoleon Avenue. In that incident a woman was sitting inside her vehicle when a man with a gun told her to get out. She complied and the man jumped inside her vehicle then drove off. Police did not say if the two Broadmoor carjackings were related.

This is the latest carjacking the NOPD is investigating this week. On Monday, the NOPD investigate two carjackings. The first carjacking happened about 9:35 a.m. at Palm and Short Streets and another happened later that evening in the 6300 block of Music Street. All of the investigations are still ongoing
