It seems no place in New Orleans is safe from some form of violent crime, and City Park is no different according to an NOPD report.
Police are investigating a carjacking that happened inside New Orleans City Park on Harrison Avenue at Diagonal Drive.
According to NOPD, a suspect armed with a gun demanded the man’s vehicle. The man complied and the suspect fled in the victim's grey Kia Sorento with Louisiana license plate 465329.
This is just the latest in the growing violent crime trend city leaders are struggling to get a grasp on.
“Another rash of carjacking incidents brings us to 163 for 2022 – a 191% increase relative to 2019 and a 7% increase relative to 2021,” says Metropolitan Crime Commission President Rafael Goyeneche.
