The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide in the Old Aurora area of Algiers.
Police say they received a call reporting shots fired in the 3700 block of Mansfield Avenue at around 9:45 p.m. Thursday.
When responding officers arrived, they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS where he later died.
Investigators are in the process of gathering information that will help them identify who may be responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, once an autopsy is complete.
