The New Orleans Police Department investigates a homicide that happened Thursday in the 1600 block of France Street.
One person was fatally shot.
“At about 9:54 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim inside of a residence having sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased at the scene,” said an initial NOPD report.
The investigation is ongoing and few details are available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
