Police in New Orleans investigate a vehicle ‘chop shop’ in New Orleans Eats.

They say the ‘chop shop’ in the 16500 block of Chef Menteur Highway is allegedly part of an auto theft operation.

The NOPD says on December 29, officers were investigating a report of a flatbed tow truck stolen from the 3600 block of Almonaster Avenue.

Authorities say they found the stolen inside the chop shop on Chef Menteur Highway.

The NOPD says officers got a warrant and when they searched the chop shop, they allegedly found several other stolen vehicles and stolen construction equipment.

The vehicles were not limited to Orleans Parish, as vehicles reported stolen from neighboring parishes including St. Bernard and St. Tammany parishes were located inside the property. In total, five stolen vehicles were recovered, one of which was found to have been used during the commission of an armed carjacking,” the NOPD said in a statement released Monday.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
