The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a murder in the French Quarter.
The investigation is in the early stages of gathering evidence. Police say it happened early Monday morning in the 400 block of Burgundy near Conti Street.
"At approximately 3:53 am., Eighth District officers responded to a call of “a male shot” and upon their arrival, found the victim lying on the sidewalk shot. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to the hospital where he died," said an NOPD report.
According to the New Orleans City Council Crime Dashboard, there has been only one homicide in the French Quarter this year prior to this current incident.
