New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in the Lower Ninth Ward. It happened at the corner of Egania and N. Prieur streets.
Police say shortly before 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a shooting in that location.
"Initial reports show two gunshot wound victims involved in this incident," said police in a statement. "One of the two victims in this incident has been pronounced deceased on scene."
New Orleans EMS took the second victim to the hospital.
