NOPD is looking into the cause of a fatal vehicle crash that occurred this morning near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Tricou Street that left one person dead and a second injured.
Just after 5am, NOPD officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims inside of a crashed Honda Accord.
The driver of the vehicle was transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, while the passenger of the vehicle was declared deceased on scene.
Police determined the Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on North Claiborne Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler trailer parked on the shoulder of the road.
