New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in the West Lake Forest neighborhood.
Police say shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to investigate a shooting in the 5500 block of Crowder Blvd. off of Lake Forest.
"Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had crashed and discovered an adult Black male in the driver’s seat suffering from at least one gunshot wound," police said in a statement.
According to police, another person was in the car. Police say that individual got out and fled.
"Officers subsequently located and temporarily detained the individual while investigators worked to determine his involvement in the incident," said police. "The individual was not injured and was later determined not to be a suspect in the homicide."
