Just before six-am, an NOPD officer patrolling in the area observed a suspicious vehicle sitting idle on Jahncke Road near the intersection with Hayne Boulevard in New Orleans East.
Upon inspection, an unresponsive male victim with a gunshot wound was discovered inside the vehicle.
The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
Investigators are gathering evidence and information to identify the person responsible as well as a motive.
No additional details are available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
