The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad, and the U.S. Marshals announced they arrested Wilbert Jefferson in the investigation of a homicide on August 9.
The fatal shooting happened in the 2200 block of Allen Street.
An NOPD report says, “At around 1:05 a.m. on October 13, NOPD Fifth District officers were patrolling in the area when they heard shots fired. As officers were responding, an aggravated battery by shooting incident was reported at the same location. An adult male and 15-year-old teenage juvenile female were struck by gunfire in this incident and arrived via private conveyance to a local hospital, where the adult male victim was pronounced deceased.”
NOPD VOWS officers and U.S. Marshals found Jefferson in Metairie, and arrested him without incident.
Jefferson was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive and will be transferred to Orleans Parish.
