New Orleans Police have released a statement about one of their own suffering a gunshot wound.
It seems Officer Louis Blackmon was the victim of an armed robbery. It took place in the parking lot of the Bayou Beer Garden near the intersection of North Rendon and Bienville Streets around 10:30pm Thursday night.
An armed subject approached the off-duty officer, pointed a gun at him, and demanded his possessions.
A struggle ensued. At that time, the officer suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
He was transported to a local hospital by EMS where he remains in stable condition.
The NOPD Force Investigation is leading the ongoing investigation.
