The New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in identifying four people they believe are responsible for a carjacking that resulted in an elderly woman being dragged to death as they fled the scene.
The gruesome crime happened Monday shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the 300 block of North Scott Street.
According to police, responding officers found the 73-year-old woman lying on the ground unresponsive and suffering from her arm being dismembered from her body.

Investigators say during the carjacking the woman became stuck to her vehicle as the suspect drove off in it, dragging her for a while before her arm became “dislodged.” Her arm became severed in the dragging. Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced the woman dead on the scene.
Detectives identified the individuals from surveillance video captured on nearby security cameras.
Witnesses described the horrifying scene to WWL-TV.
"The lady was trying to put something in her vehicle, the guy jumped in and kicked her out and she got caught in the wheel well,” a witness told WWL-TV. "I heard screaming, like, you're about to die screaming.”
