New Orleans Police said said on Sunday, a man was standing by a gas pump at a gas station in the 5100 block of St. Claude Avenue when he was attacked by a suspect wielding a machete. They say the suspect then drove away in a green 2008 Saturn Vue with damage to the front driver's side.

Family members identified the man killed at the gas station as 59-year-old Donald Cargo of Meraux.

Monday afternoon, Shreveport authorities say Chatman went inside Ochsner LSU Health and wounded two individuals with a large knife. Sergeant Glen Heckard says one of the victims is Chatman's mother.

“He wasn’t a patient, he just randomly showed up at the hospital from what we’ve been able to determine and he was armed with a large knife and actually cut two of the medical staff there,” said Heckard.

The two victims in the Shreveport attaack are expected to survive.
