NOPD says car burglary arrest yields trove of stolen guns
New Orleans Police Department

The New Orleans Police Department says authorities arrested a teen responsible for dozens of automobile break-ins in the downtown area. Police on Wednesday booked 19-year-old Keddrick Butler Jr. for 27 counts of auto burglary, two count of aggravated assault, and multiple firearms violations.

Police say suspects in a light blue Honda Civic had been reported in a rash of auto burglaries in the NOPD 8th district during the month of July. During a separate investigation, detectives in the Violent Crime Abatement Investigative Team along with NOPD 6th District detectives determined Butler was in possession of the vehicle reported in the 8th district burglaries.

Cops tracked Butler to the 6900 block of Boston Drive in New Orleans East, where they arrested him. A search warrant served on the residence turned up 12 firearms, six of which had been reported stolen.

Police ask anyone with additional information on these crimes to call NOPD 8th District detectives at (504) 658-6080 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward.
