New Orleans Police say they are seeing big reductions in crime across the board.
Murder is down 22 percent through February 3, 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Shootings, stabbings and other aggravated battery reports are down 42 percent.
Carjacking is down 43 percent.
The only category or crime that NOPD says increased was shoplifting.

Metro Crime Commission President Rafael Goyeneche says some of the credit goes to the cops, but other factors played a role too.
He points out that unusually cold weather during January and some stormy days with heavy rain kept people inside, reducing the number of potential crime victims out and about.
