The New Orleans Police Department says they have now booked a second suspect connected to the murder of 12-year-old Derrick Cash.
As Nola.com reports, Tyree Conerly, 19, was booked with one count of second-degree murder late Monday night. Conerly surrendered to police on Monday at NOPD Headquarters.
Conerly was arrested after Tyrese Harris, 18, reportedly confessed Sunday to his role in Cash’s murder after police arrested Harris for carjacking and dragging a woman on Feb. 1 as she was pumping gas at the Costco near Carrollton Avenue.
Cash was found shot to death on Jan. 3 in a remote area of Michoud Boulevard.
Investigators say Harris is also allegedly connected to a botched carjacking attempt on Jan. 18 where they say he dropped his cell phone which had evidence suggesting Harris knew about Cash’s murder.
