A teenager is in the hospital and a man is in jail after police say the man drunkenly drove his car into a New Orleans East home.
The crash happened around 4 a.m. Sunday at the corner of Cerise Avenue and Chef Menteur Highway.
According to a New Orleans Police Department spokesperson, Cedrick Marshall crashed his SUV through a fence and into the house, plowing into a bedroom where the victim, a 15-year-old boy, was sleeping. EMS crews took the teen to a hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
Investigators say Marshall stayed at the crash site and failed a field sobriety test. Marshall, 53, is facing vehicular negligent injury and reckless operation charges.
The crash remains under investigation.
