A woman drove to the main branch of the New Orleans Public Library around 1:00 Thursday afternoon, when she was carjacked.
"The victim went... to drop off a backpack," according to an initial NOPD report.
She had just parked her car outside the library.
"The subject entered the victim’s vehicle and produced a firearm wrapped in a plastic bag. "
Cops say the woman surrendered the car, but not before saving her child.
"The victim then grabbed her baby and exited the vehicle."
The suspect drove away in the car.
Police have since issued an arrest warrant for the alleged carjacker.
