A victim asked a St. Tammany Parish judge to send her molester away for "the max."
Today District Attorney Collin Sims announced that Judge Scott Gardner sentenced Daniel Lascari to 50 years in prison.
"This case is a tremendous example of this office’s commitment to vigorously prosecute these types of cases and our dedicated prosecutors’ relentless pursuit of justice in the face of obstacles encountered during the prosecution of this child’s sexual abuser," Sims said.
The 41 year old convicted child molester was found guilty on charges of molestation of a juvenile and sexual battery of a child in December.
The count read the victim’s handwritten impact statement before sentencing. She explained how her “life had been ruined” by the defendant and that she “knew [he] didn’t care”.
The crimes occurred in 2018, when the then eight-year-old victim told school officials that her mother’s fiancé “got carried away last night.” Prosecutors presented evidence that the victim described to a counselor sexual abuse that occurred over eight months.
Prosecutors said the victim explained that Lascari would rub peppermint lotion all over her body, including inside her private area.
