St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 13-year-old girl Friday on a misdemeanor charge of menacing.
Authorities say the teen told a classmate she was going to "shoot up" her junior high school.
"We have made it very clear that threats like this will be taken seriously," said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith. "We will continue to work with our schools and investigate any and all threats made at our schools or to the students and faculty who attend them."
Authorities issued a summons and released the girl on a custodial agreement to appear in court.
