On December 31, the NOPD arrested James Johnson in the investigation of an armed robbery that occurred that same day at the intersection of General DeGaulle and MacArthur Boulevard.
At about 12:40am, the victim was reportedly exited a business in the area and walked to their car.
As they were getting in their car, an unknown black male armed with a handgun reportedly approached the victim and demanded the victim’s keys.
The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
NOPD Fourth District officers canvassed the area and located the victim’s vehicle at a nearby apartment complex.
Officers then determined the location of the perpetrator within the apartment complex.
Officers located and arrested the subject, identified as Johnson, who was positively identified as the perpetrator of the armed robbery.
Johnson was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery, and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon as well as for a parole violation.
