One person is dead and another person is in custody after a shooting at a Kentwood convenience store.
According to a post on the town's Facebook page, the shooting happened Wednesday night at the Kentwood 4 Way Quick Stop Convenience Store on Avenue E near 3rd Street.
According to Kentwood Police Chief Michael Kazerooni, the two men had a previous beef with each other. Kazerooni says both of them happened to be at the same place at the same time and began fighting. Kazerooni says both of them pulled guns, with one of the men eventually shooting the other.
The victim, Deshaun Roberts of Osyka, Mississippi, died at the scene. The suspect, Demarcus Blount of McComb, Mississippi, is in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on a second-degree murder charge.
The case remains under investigation.
